If the audio from the film is too loud and drowning out the commentary track, use the volume slider to bring it down.

A long time ago (circa 1998), in the next town over from us, there was a young, naive, and arrogant quasi-Film School student who one day thought it would be a good idea to raid his meager savings account and put it towards a feature-length production unimaginatively titled Tustin Summer (because the film was set in Tustin, California and took place during the summer), convinced the resulting product would cause a sensation among the Lars von Trier-loving independent film community. Well, that obviously never happened. In fact, after screening the movie to a few friends (who later raved it was the best nap they had ever taken), the videotape (remember, this was back in the late 90s, before you were born) was promptly shoved into the bottom of a drawer somewhere, never to see the light of day again. Until now.

Nobody knows (or cares) what became of that young, naive, and arrogant quasi-Film School student, although rumor has it that once in a while he gets together with his buddy Dave and they record videos of themselves rambling nonsensically about random and not particularly interesting topics, as if there were on TV or something.

This week instead of taping our regular installment of DEWDcast, we decided to try something a little different. Being fans of all things from The Asylum, we decided to record our own audio commentary track for one of their recent gems: Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, a cinematic classic we sincerely believe sets a new standard for movies featuring mega sharks and giant octopuses everywhere. But don’t take our word for it, enjoy a small sampler of this masterpiece at the bottom of this post.

We wholeheartedly encourage you to join the fun by obtaining your own copy of the film (we’re not going to offer suggestions on where you can find it except to say that if you have a good Internet connection you can probably save yourself a trip to Blockbuster) and then downloading the MP3 (right-click, “Save Target As”) of our commentary track. How you want to run both the movie and commentary concurrently is up to you, we suggest either playing both the movie and MP3 on a computer at the same time or putting the MP3 on your iPod and playing the DVD on your home theater system for a true family viewing experience.
